Bumble bee with radio tag

A bumble bee queen (Bombus impatiens) with a radio tag attached to the abdomen at Rare Charitable Research Reserve. The radio tag was placed on the bumble bee queen to monitor for potential differences in movement between queens exposed to pesticide vs. those that were not exposed to pesticide. The information gathered from this study will be invaluable for determining if there are sublethal effects of a novel class of systemic insecticides that are in-use in Ontario.
