This photo was taken during my graduate field work in Madagascar in the summer of 2025. My research examined how two lemur species with different ecological strategies can occupy areas with varying levels of human activities. We collected data on human disturbances, including the type and intensity of activities occurring in the area. In conservation, human activities are often viewed through a negative lens, however, this image highlights that this not just a house, but someone’s home situated within a forest that both people and lemurs rely on.
