Pesticide residue levels in food are regulated at the global level. Foods with residues that exceed those tolerances are considered unsafe. The Ontario-grown pulses (lentils, beans, chickpeas, peas) were tested for pesticides residue using the non-destructive testing technique. These methods are very quick and retain the proper structure of the sample.
