For help searching for courses with the new Student Planning tool, follow the steps in the Searching for Courses: Faculty & Staff document.

Frequently Asked Questions

The best way to review information about capacity, meeting times, rooms, instructors, course titles, etc. in WebAdvisor's Course Catalog (in a format similar to the old "Search for Sections" screen) is the Advanced Search with the Section Listing view. Here's how to access this new screen:

  1. Click on the "Access WebAdvisor" button on the right side of the WebAdvisor landing page and log in with your University of Guelph central login credentials.
  2. Click on the "Course Catalog" box.
  3. Click on the "Advanced Search" tab.
  4. Select "Section Listing" under "Results View."
  5. Enter other search criteria, as needed, and click the "Search" button.

Once final exam information has been posted on WebAdvisor, it can be viewed in the Course Catalog. The best way to review final exam information is the Advanced Search option with the Section Listing view. Here's how to access this screen:

  2. Click on the "Course Catalog" box.
  3. Click on the "Advanced Search" tab.
  4. Select "Section Listing" under "Results View."
  5. Enter other search criteria, as needed, and click the "Search" button.
  6. Final exam information will appear in the "Meeting Information" column.

You can review the location(s) of your course(s) using the Course Catalog on WebAdvisor. The best way to review location information is the Advanced Search option with the Section Listing view. Here's how to access this screen:

To search for all courses offered through Distance Education, type "DE01 OR DE02" in the "Search for courses" field located at the top right of all Course Catalog and Student Planning pages. After the search results load, you can use the filters on the left side of the page to specify the semester, campus, etc.

 

For questions about course selection windows or Course Waiver Request forms, students should contact Enrolment Services.

For questions related to academic advising, undergraduate and diploma students should visit the Undergraduate Academic Information Centre (UAIC) website or their Program Counselling office's website. Graduate students should contact their advisor or Graduate Program Coordinator.

For technical issues (e.g., login or browser issues), students can contact the CCS Help Centre.

 

No, only core programs are available through the "View a New Program" feature. Students will need to consult the Academic Calendar to determine the requirements for an additional minor.

 

Changes will be visible on Student Planning as soon as Colleague has been updated.

 

Colleague's handling of double-counting remains unchanged. As with the old Program/Academic evaluations in WebAdvisor, the My Progress page will not recognize double counting. Program Counsellors must submit the Degree Exceptions and Overrides form to apply for any courses that can be used for double counting.

 

The waitlisting feature will be rolled out in a future semester. The exact timing has not been finalized. Staff and faculty will be contacted with additional details before the waitlisting feature is launched.
