Certificate in Inclusive and Sustainable Market Systems Development
The Guelph Institute of Development Studies is partnering with MEDA to provide graduate students with the opportunity to earn a Certificate in Inclusive and Sustainable Market Systems Development. The certificate will introduce students to concepts, practice and case study examples. The certificate consists of three one-day workshops (see details below). Students who complete all three workshops will receive the Certificate.
Key themes of inclusion and sustainability will be integrated throughout the workshop, in particular the mainstreaming of gender and environment/climate change considerations. Exposure to tools, mini-cases and partnership experiences will be supplemented with exercises and group problem-solving.

Workshop 1: Market Analysis
Friday November 23rd, 800C MacKinnon, 9:00 am - 4:00 pm
This workshop provides an introduction to market assessment including how to research and analyze value chains/market systems for pro-poor and inclusive economic development initiatives.

Workshop 2: Results-Based Management
Friday, February 15th, 2019, UC 441, 9:00 am - 4:00 pm
An overview of RBM, specifically relating it to market systems/value chain economic development programming. The workshop will introduce the concepts of results based management, focusing in on the methodology utilized in Canada-funded programs.

Workshop 3: Program Implementation (offered Winter 2019, date TBA)
The final workshop will offer practical insights into implementation approaches, challenges and opportunities, particularly as they pertain to working with private sector partners and achieving market systems change.
