Accountability

The University of Guelph has a long-standing history of, and on-going, commitment to accountability and public disclosure. Accountability for public resources is the cornerstone of the public trust relationship. We take great pride in demonstrating the effective and efficient stewardship of the resources entrusted to us to deliver quality and excellence in our teaching and learning, research, and service missions.

At Guelph, accountability is demonstrated through action and recorded through a plethora of publications, reports and public documents ranging from student surveys to audited financial statements to planning documents. This site, which will evolve over time, serves as an information portal - a focal point for these instruments.

Key Performance Indicators

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) include graduation rates, employment rates and defaulted Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) loan rates as required by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities (MTCU).

Graduation Rates (Undergraduate)

Graduation rates are calculated by the MTCU by following a single cohort to determine whether the students graduated within 7 years. The chosen cohort consists of first-time, full-time undergraduate students in their first year based on that year’s official Fall enrolment file. The records of these students are compared against records of those who were awarded degrees from the University of Guelph from 1 year after they began at the university to 7 years after they began at the university.

Employment Rates (Undergraduate)

Employment rates result from the Ontario University Graduate Survey (OUGS) administered by the Ontario Universities Application Centre (OUAC). All graduates that are surveyed each year are asked about their employment situation 6 months and 2 years after graduating.

OSAP Default Rates (Undergraduate and Graduate)

OSAP default rates are the percentage of students issued Canada-Ontario Integrated Student Loans (COISL) in a given year who did not receive loans or grants through OSAP the following year, and who defaulted on their repayment responsibilities. OSAP default rates are calculated by the MTCU.

Strategic Mandate Agreement

The Strategic Mandate Agreement (SMA) between the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities (MTCU) and University of Guelph outlines the role the University currently performs in the postsecondary education system. It discloses how we will build on our current strengths to achieve our vision and help drive system-wide objectives articulated by the Ministry's foundation of the Differentiation Policy Framework (2013).
