2019 OASV-Maxwell Swine Legacy Scholarship Call for Applications

The Ontario Association of Swine Veterinarians has announced their call for applications for the 2019 OASV-Maxwell Swine Legacy Scholarship.

The Ontario Swine Research Network (OSRN) is managing the application process on behalf of the OASV.

Application deadline is Friday Sept 20, 2019 at 11:59 EST.

Call for applications for the new OASV-Maxwell Legacy Swine Scholarship

Applications are now being accepted for a new swine scholarship opportunity, the OASV-Maxwell Legacy Swine Scholarship. 

Qualifying applicants must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident to apply and

  • 2017 or 2018 graduate from the Ontario Veterinary College, Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) program, University of Guelph.


  • Full-time registered graduate student at the University of Guelph.


Swine Research Day 2017 Graduate Student Competition Results

Thank you to all of the University of Guelph students who participated in the graduate student competitions that took place at the University of Guelph Swine Research Day on May 17, 2017 in Creelman Hall.

The competitions were generously sponsored by the Centralia Swine Research Update and showcased the swine-focused research of Masters and PhD level graduate students.  The competition included oral presentation categories for MSc and PhD students and a poster competition which included a 2-minute oral pitch.

OVC Students Attend AASV 2017

Six OVC student veterinarians attended the American Association of Swine Veterinarian's Annual Meeting in Denver, Colorado this past weekend, representing the University of Guelph. 

Jane Newman, OVC 2019 had the opportunity to compete in the student presentation competition, placing in the top 10 and receiving a $1500 veterinary student scholarship for her efforts - congratulations Jane! 

Goldia Chan (OVC 2019), Hannah Golightly (OVC 2019) and Andrea Patterson (OVC 2020) all presented posters at the meeting.
