Call for Applications

The call for applications for the University of Guelph & CASV-ACVP Swine Leadership Travel Awards is open. There are currently five (5) $1000.00 travel awards available. Please refer to the terms and conditions of the award below.
Applicant eligibility: At the time of application, and at the time of declared travel activity, applicants must be a full-time veterinary, undergraduate, or graduate student at the University of Guelph. In the event of multiple or equivalent applications, preference will be given to student applications. However, applications are also accepted from, full-time post-doctoral fellows, professional staff, and faculty who are employed at the University of Guelph.
Application process: Applicants must state in a letter-of-intent (maximum 800 words) how he/she intends to use the funds towards travel to a swine-focused congress, academic training, or towards other swine-related professional development and/or continuing education opportunities. The applicant must provide evidence of an accepted abstract for oral or poster presentation, or a letter of reference from faculty advisor verifying abstract submission or active participation. The application must also include a budget (maximum 100 words) detailing how much the travel activity is expected to cost and how the applicant intends to cover any costs incurred that are over and above the award value if necessary.
Deadlines: Applications will be accepted between June 1 - Sept 30, 2018 or until candidates are identified and funds are awarded. The award may be used for travel costs incurred from Jan 1, 2018 - June 1, 2019 given applicant eligibility requirements are met.
Fund award process: Successful applicants must submit a travel claim for their declared travel activity via the University of Guelph expense claim system upon return from travel. All travel expenses must abide by the travel policy and procedure set by the University of Guelph.
