The entrance scholarship was created by Charles and Linda Cyopik, who bred champion Dalmatians. Their Dalmatians received excellent care from Drs. Steve Ball (OVC ’82) and Cliff Young (OVC ’49) of Brookville Veterinary Clinic who would refer them to OVC when their pets experienced serious health concerns. Due to their experiences with OVC, they are inclined to support canine studies. Apply with a letter of no more than 300 words and resume detailing experience with dog training, in the fall during the call for applications from the Dean’s office. Letter of reference from a professional who can attest to the student’s experience in this area is required. Selection will be based on the student who demonstrates experience and effectiveness in dog training. In the case of equally qualified candidates, selection will be based on highest admissions average.

Students registered in Phase 1 of the DVM program with experience and effectiveness in dog training, as shown through experience with therapy dogs or any form of showing or obedience training.
