Established in memory of Steven Harrington, a proud alumnus and passionate educator who was dedicated to making his community a better place. Apply by May 15 to the Political Science Awards Committee at POLS.undergrad@uoguelph.ca with: A. An itemized list of extracurricular activities and volunteer work, including in each the following information: 1. Name and mission of the organization 2. Process in obtaining the position – competitive election / nomination or referral by a third party / non-competitive appointment by the organization 3. Responsibilities and activities involved 4. Number of hours per week/month, including preparation as needed 5. Duration of the position 6. Award(s) on performance and/or contributions B. Names and contact information of two references who have firsthand knowledge of the applicant’s activities as listed. (No letters required.) C. A statement of no more than 250 words in which the applicant explains the reasons for engaging in these activities and identifies contributions to the organizations and their constituency, as well as the larger community where pertinent. The statement does not need to include all reported activities, only the ones that the applicant regards as most relevant to the award’s criteria. Selection will be based on the greatest impact made through leadership. Not tenable with the Class of 1983 Political Science Scholarship I1129 or the Dan Mathieson Scholarship I1124.

Students registered in the Political Science (POLS) major or minor who have completed a minimum of 2.5 credits with leadership as demonstrated through positions held, extra-curricular involvement and volunteering in school and communities, as both a high school and undergraduate student.
