This scholarship is inspired by Margaret Hamilton’s longstanding passion for education and for her desire to build excellence in research supporting the Canadian apple growing and marketing industry.The scholarship recognizes the historical connection of the family of Angus Hamilton with the University of Guelph and the OAC. Apply by August 15th by submitting the OAC Graduate Fall Award Application Form. Applicants will be asked to outline their proposed research and reason for their interest in the area of research, including any relevant past work/family experience. Selection will be based on (a) proposed research, reasons for interest in the area of research as well as relevance of past work/family experience that would influence the success of the proposal; (b) supporting letter from the student’s advisor or from a representative of the apple industry; and (c) academic achievement (admission average). In the event there are no eligible entering students, in-course students will be considered.

Students entering in the Winter, Summer, or Fall into any full-time Masters or PhD program offered by the Department of Plant Agriculture who demonstrate an interest in any aspect of apple research (including nutrition, propagating, post-harvest and pest control). Preference will be given to students who have not received another OAC entrance scholarship.
