The donor wishes to support graduate-level students attending conferences to share their research and connect and collaborate with other researchers. Apply by submitting the Braithwaite Conference Travel Grant application at least 6 weeks in advance of travel, with a travel budget (including both expected expenses and other revenues, see detailed instructions) and a one-page letter outlining how attending and/or presenting at a conference will support their studies and the benefits of connecting and collaborating with other researchers in their field. Selection will be based on the student’s travel budget, how the student’s specific academic and/or research plans will be supported by the travel, and the benefits of connecting and collaborating with other researchers in their field. Amounts awarded are determined based on application details and budgets provided by students. If students deviate from their proposed budgets, they must notify grschol@uoguelph.ca, and provide an updated budget. If travel is cancelled entirely, students must notify OGPS; the Braithwaite Conference Travel Grant review committee will determine whether a new conference can be attended with the initial funds or if the student is required to return funding. Within two months of returning from travel taken with Braithwaite Conference Travel Grant funds, students are asked to complete the MS Form detailing the outcomes of their travel. Funding will be added to student accounts in the semester when the travel occurs. The award can be held multiple times throughout the calendar year up to the maximum total amount of $5,000 per calendar year (between January 1-December 31).

Full-time students registered in any thesis-based graduate program who are attending a conference related to their area of research/studies. Preference will be given to students who will be presenting at a conference.
