Established by Dr. Gary Palmer and Dr. Robin Lewis-Palmer of Sault Ste. Marie Animal Clinic to promote competence and confidence in small animal surgical skills while also motivating graduates to pursue careers in Northern Ontario and other underserved regions. Selection will be based on the highest grade for VETM*4540 Surgical Exercises. In the case of a tie, selection will be based on the highest Phase 3 DVM program average.
Students registered in Phase 4 of the DVM program who successfully completed the Phase 3 VETM*4540 Surgical Exercises course in the previous academic year. Preference will be given to students whose hometown address, as indicated on their entrance survey at the time of acceptance to the DVM program, is from Northern Ontario (geographic districts defined by government of Canada, Northern Ontario)
