Dr. Theresa Bernardo was a globally recognized visionary leader in digital health, One Health, and health informatics whose pioneering work bridged veterinary medicine, public health, and technology. She leveraged and championed the transformative power of information systems to improve health outcomes across species and borders. As an educator and mentor, she inspired a generation of health professionals to think expansively and act collaboratively to solve problems. Her legacy lives on in the global networks she helped build and the countless lives she touched through her dedication to innovation, equity, and the integration of human, animal, and environmental health. Apply as part of the annual call for OVC Graduate Award applications in January each year, including a statement outlining the relevance of the students’ research in new and emerging technology, global burden of disease, health informatics or One Health and highlighting the interdisciplinary aspects if applicable. Selection will be based on the relevance of the student’s research, and their academic and research performance to date in the student’s current graduate program.

Full-time students registered in any program offered by the Department of Population Medicine at the Ontario Veterinary College, who are conducting research in one or more of the following areas: new and emerging technology, global burden of disease, health informatics or One Health. Preference will be given to a student conducting interdisciplinary research.
