I obtained my PhD in Development Studies from the International Institute of Social Studies, Erasmus University Rotterdam in the Netherlands. Prior to joining the University of Guelph, I taught at York University, Toronto, Canada.
Current areas of research include: Young people's pathways into farming in Canada, China, India and Indonesia; and relative contributions of daughters and sons to their elderly parents' well-being. Another emerging area of research is related to engaging men in preventing sexual violence in particular on university campuses.
I am interested in supervising MA/PhD students who would like to work on a topic related to my areas of interest. Students who are interested in undertaking research in India, about the Indian/ south Asian diaspora or more specifically about gender issues in any part of the world are welcome to contact me. Some funding may be available for field research in the above mentioned areas.
