
START Indigenous
All new self-identified First Nations, Inuit, and Métis students are encouraged to attend START Indigenous to connect, explore, and learn about U of G. By attending START Indigenous you can:
- Move into residence early
- Meet other Indigenous students and the Indigenous Student Centre staff
- Learn about the resources and supports available to you
- Discover ways to get involved on and off campus
- Get answers to your questions about the transition to university life
- Lay the foundation for a successful year
100% of Indigenous students who participate in START Indigenous report that they feel better prepared and able to succeed because of their participation. Registration for Fall 2026 will open on April 1, 2026

Additional Orientation Programs

Orientation Week
September
Orientation Week is a weeklong series of events to welcome you to U of G and help you get adjusted to being on campus! Taking place at the beginning of September, there are hundreds of events run by student clubs and departments across campus.

START International
August and January
This orientation program for international students, exchange students and out-of-country Canadians helps you make connections and settle into your new home. It features info sessions about academic life, resources to help you succeed, space to meet and connect with upper year students and staff, campus tours and social gatherings.

START Accessible
August
An orientation program for students who are registering with Student Accessibility Services (SAS) in order to access disability related academic supports. The program will help students learn about the resources available through SAS, how to access accommodations and an opportunity to meet and connect with students and staff.
