An orientation program for new international students, new permanent residents to Canada, new exchange students and out-of-country Canadians. The program will introduce you to the campus environment, the resources available to aid in your social and academic transition, and what you can expect from your University of Guelph experience.
A social event held in the fall and winter semesters for BIPOC students. Students can become familiar with resources, services, and identity-based student groups on campus in a cozy setting at the 5th, an on-campus restaurant. Cultural groups have the chance to connect with first-year students to share information about their clubs and any upcoming events.
First Year Student Communities
If you are a new student joining us virtually from off-campus, you will be a part of a virtual community in the fall semester. Led by upper-year students (Online Community Mentors) and professional staff, new students will meet their community during Orientation Week. You’ll receive both one-to-one and group support from your Online Community Mentor on meeting other students, academic success, wellness, and be connected to fun events.
If you will be living in Residence, you are part of a community in residence. This is led by upper-year students and professional staff (Residence Life Staff) in Student Housing Services. You’ll receive both one-to-one and group support from Residence Life Staff on meeting other students, academic success, wellness, and be connected to fun events.
Transfer Student Communities
If you are a transfer student, you are welcome to join the transfer student community. We host events, workshops, and programs for you specifically as a transfer student that are also a chance to meet fellow transfer students.
