Running Trails

The Arboretum provides a variety of trails that can be used for walking/running. Recreational users tend to use the Arboretum promenade and Trillium Trail for their activities. Starting at the western entrance to The Arboretum this makes an approximate 3 km run or two loops of the Trillium will make it 5 km. More serious X-Country runners will search out the trails north of College Ave. These are used by CIAU Champion Gryphons for much of their training but are also suitable to community events such as the Vic Matthews Falling Leaves Run held each fall. CWOSSA has also held their championship runs here. Going to the next level The Arb has played host to the Canadian Nationals in past.

The trails are open to the public during daylight hours except on days when an event is scheduled. Many charities such as the Brain Tumour Foundation and Big Brothers/Sisters have found the site suits their requirements for a fun fund-raising event. Within the university community Alumni groups hold 5 km events each year. Annually The Arb plays home to around 10 organized events from fun runs to highly competitive competitions.
