Prof. and Chair of the Department of Chemistry Receives the 2026 CCUCC Clara Benson Award
Dr. Kathryn E. Preuss, Professor and Chair of the Department of Chemistry at the University of Guelph, is the 2026 recipient of the Clara Benson Award, sponsored by the Canadian Council of University Chemistry Chairs (CCUCC). This award recognizes a woman who has made a distinguished contribution to chemistry while working in Canada. As an inorganic synthetic chemist, Dr. Preuss leads a research program focused on designing and studying materials with unique quantum, magnetic, ferroelectric and optical properties.
Throughout her career, Dr. Preuss has demonstrated outstanding leadership in research and service to the chemistry community. She has served on national review panels, editorial boards, and professional societies, and has been recognized with honours including the Alice Wilson Award, a Tier II Canada Research Chair, and the University of Guelph Research Leadership Chair.
