PhD Candidate Wins First Place Poster Award at UNENE R&D Workshop
Chemistry PhD candidate Samantha Binkley earned first place in the student poster competition at the University Network of Excellence in Nuclear Engineering (UNENE) Annual R&D Workshop, held on December 8-10, 2025. The workshop included a dedicated one-day program showcasing graduate student research through presentations and posters.
Samantha received top honours for her poster, “Thermochemical Constants for Aqueous Alkanolamines from Twin-Cell Scanning Nanocalorimetry and Densimetry.” Her work stood out among 40 research posters presented by graduate students in chemistry, electrochemistry, physics and nuclear engineering from universities across Ontario, New Brunswick and Saskatchewan that hold UNENE Research Chairs or UNENE-funded Alliance grants.
The competition was judged by senior scientific staff and experts from organizations including OPG, Bruce Power, Natural Resources Canada, AECL, NB Power, SaskPower, the CNSC, NWMO, Conexus, other UNENE member institutes, and faculty from member universities.
Congratulations, Samantha!
