CCMPS Undergraduate Researchers Showcase Summer Projects at Annual Poster Competition (2026)
More than 40 undergraduate researchers from across the College of Computational, Mathematical and Physical Sciences (CCMPS) gathered in Peter Clark Hall on August 12 for the College's annual Undergraduate Summer Research Poster Session.
The event featured 36 research posters presented by 41 students from the departments of Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics & Statistics, and the School of Computer Science. The poster session provided students with an opportunity to share the results of their summer research projects, gain presentation experience and connect with faculty, peers and graduate student judges.
This year's competition was judged by a team of graduate student volunteers, who selected the top poster presentations from a highly competitive field.
Prize winners were:
- First Place: Hussain Jafri (Chemistry), Three-dimensional structural effects of titanium-based electrodes on hydrogen evolution
- Second Place: Hannah Mayers (Physics), Fluorescent tagging of molecules for FCS crowding experiments
- Third Place: Madisan Peters (Chemistry), Investigating selective reduction of AAA+ metalloprotease YME1L activity using small molecule binders
Honourable mentions were awarded to Szymon Patryn (Computer Science), Alicia Wong (Chemistry) and Lev Friedberg (Physics).
