The 2021 International Symposium on Technology and Society (ISTAS21) is the flagship event of the IEEE Society on Social Implications of Technology.  This interdisciplinary conference brings together researchers, engineers, policymakers, industry experts, students, and members of the public to foster dialogue about the social implications of technology and importance of responsibility during this period of unprecedented technological advancement. The program will include paper presentations, panel discussions, interactive workshops, networking opportunities, and more. In addition, the IEEE ETHICS-2021 conference will be held as a track within ISTAS21, focused on the theme of “Engineering and Corporate Social Responsibility.”

The ISTAS21 program will also feature the "CARE-AI Special Session on AI Ethics"; a special session organized by the Centre for Advancing Responsible and Ethical Artificial Intelligence (CARE-AI) consists of two 90-minute parts, focusing on two groups at the frontline of AI Ethics: students and startup founders. Part 1 is a student-led AI Ethics paper presentation and critique, part 2 is an AI Ethics startup showcase. More information on this special event can be found on the CARE-AI website, or on the full program list.
