On Thursday, March 21st, 2024, the Department of Chemistry hosted the 41st Annual Chemistry Undergraduate Awards Night. Over 120 attendees including award recipients, presenters, donors, and guests came together at the University Club to celebrate the achievements of these students. The night was hosted by the Chemistry Club Executives: Noah King and Makayla Carter who did an excellent job of organizing the night and ensuring everything ran smoothly.
This year, the University of Guelph Entrance Scholarship was awarded to 34 chemistry students. This award is given to students with a minimum admission average of 90.0% or greater. As well, Department Chair, Professor Kathryn Preuss presented the Board of Governor’s Scholarship to Emma Grieve. There are only 25 of these prestigious scholarships awarded each year campus wide. Congratulations to Emma. Professor Dan Thomas presented the Paul Rowntree Memorial Scholarship to Celeste Wolske. This scholarship is in honour and memory of our former Department Chair, Professor Paul Rowntree. As well, Interim Dean of the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences, Professor Richard Zytner was present to award Olivia Parker with the CEPS Leadership Scholarship. This award goes to a student who shows exemplary community service. The remaining award recipients are listed below. Congratulations to all our students.
