Chem Club Presents Wizards in the King's Court at College Royal
At the 102nd College Royal, the Chem Club captivated audiences with a theatrical showcase of chemical reactions, presenting four performances over two days. On March 21st and 22nd, spectators were welcome to witness the skills of a group of young wizards eager to join the King’s Court. They displayed magical presentations of mysterious colour changes, magical spray to reveal hidden messages, and bringing balloon animals back to life from being frozen in liquid nitrogen, all to win the approval of the King. Sparks flied – literally – with microscale thermite reactions, and their ability to tame a fire breathing dragon was their most dramatic feat.
While the magicians tested the patience of the King on numerous occasions, in the end they won over his praise. With enthusiastic support from the audience, they were granted the honour of joining the King’s Court, bringing the chemistry-themed spectacle to a triumphant close.
In addition, guests were invited to test their own skills in making slime and kinetic sand in hopes that the youngest spectators will go on to be the next generation in the King’s Court.
This College Royal Event was made possible by this amazing group of young chemists:
