Professor Emeritus Jacek Lipkowski Honoured in Special Issue of the Canadian Journal of Chemistry

The Department of Chemistry is pleased to congratulate Professor Emeritus Jacek Lipkowski on being recognized in the October 2026 special issue of the Canadian Journal of Chemistry titled International Symposium on Electrochemistry and Surface Science: in Honour of Professor Jacek Lipkowski’s 80th Birthday.

The special issue highlights research presented at the International Symposium on Electrochemistry and Surface Science (ISESS 2024), held at the University of Guelph in August 2024. The symposium was organized in celebration of Professor Lipkowski’s 80th birthday and recognized his outstanding contributions to interfacial electrochemistry and surface science. The event also coincided with the Department of Chemistry’s 150th anniversary and brought together researchers from around the world to share advances in electrochemistry, surface science, energy materials, and related fields.

Professor Lipkowski joined the University of Guelph in 1983 and became an internationally recognized leader in electrochemistry. His pioneering research on electrified interfaces has advanced fundamental understanding in the field and inspired generations of students and researchers. Throughout his distinguished career, he has received numerous national and international honours, including Fellowship in the Royal Society of Canada and the International Society of Electrochemistry.

This special issue stands as a fitting tribute to Professor Lipkowski’s remarkable scientific legacy and his lasting impact on the global electrochemistry community.
