Education and Employment

Lori Jones graduate from the University of New Brunswick (Fredericton) with a B.Sc. in Chemistry. She came to Guelph to pursue a Chemistry Masters Co-op from the Guelph-Waterloo Centre for Graduate Work in Chemistry and completing an 8-month work term with the Defence Research Establishment Ottawa (DREO). She successfully applied for a direct transfer into the PhD program and built an UHV scanning tunnelling microscopy to study silicon surfaces. After graduation, she worked at the University of Guelph as a Sessional Lecturer, held the position of B.Sc. Liaison Co-ordinator for 5 years and was the B.Sc.(Tech.) Program Coursellor. She joined the Department of Chemistry as an Assistance Professor in 2003 and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2010.

Research Themes

Chemical education; application of new instructional technologies and effective incorporation into the chemistry curriculum.
