Do not block doors

While attending a building for a fire alarm today we came across a lot of storage in the hallway, including a skid which was placed in a doorway. This is a special doorway as the doors close automatically when a fire alarm happens to keep up the fire separations within a building, unfortunately with the skid in the way these doors are unable to perform their job. a skid on the floor holding a door open in the hallway of a building

August 2013

Well it is that time of year again! RLS are back on campus, and we could not be happier. Scott attended the RLS dinner and had a great time talking to some friends from last year, as well as meeting some new friends. We are hoping to get out and visit more residence's this year with our new fire extinguisher trainer to help spread the work of Fire Safety!

On August 28th we will be in Peter Clark Hall from 11:30-1:00pm for the RLS resource fair, but anyone is free to stop by and say Hi!

MOVE IN DAY, August 31st. We can't wait to welcome all of our new students

Blocked Pull Station and Fire Extinguisher

In the event of a fire emergency you will need quick access to pull stations and fire extinguishers. Please ensure that neither of these life saving devices are blocked or inaccessible.

LIVE Burn - O week 2013

On Wednesday September 4, 2013 at 4:00pm on Johnston Green the University Fire Division will be holding its annual room burn demonstration.  A mock student room will be built on Johnston Green and at 4:00 we will set that room on fire, spectators will witness the devastation of fire first hand. Last year within 5 minutes the entire room was destroyed, which does not leave a lot of time to escape the flames. Please join us to witness the awesome power of fire.

Annual Fire drills

The Ontario Fire Code requires that the University conduct annual fire drills.  The purpose of these drills is to familiarize building occupants with the sound of the fire alarm and to practice safe evacuation procedures.  Safe evacuations are not only important during a fire but for other campus emergencies.  These drills also allow us to test the Fire Warden system currently in place across campus.
