Whether you are established in your career or looking to get started, LinkedIn is a powerful networking and information sharing tool. Entrepreneurs can use LinkedIn to connect with their existing network and strategically grow their network and generate leads. Shannon Clement, Founder & Director of Content Marketing at Engagement Marketing, joined this session to provide digital marketing and content expertise.

“Recruiters and HR staff within organizations are always on LinkedIn scouring for new talent, and it's hard to find these days. So, the easier you make it, the better”, said Shannon.

Your bio is your chance to make a digital first impression. What does your bio say about you? Are you using your bio to its full advantage? Shannon then used a real University of Guelph professor’s profile as a case study and provided insights into how profiles can be used strategically and fielded questions from attendees, including:

  • “Open to Work” badges - yay or nay?
  • How important is it to use hashtags, and should a startup use a unique hashtag?
  • I have a LinkedIn profile but don’t use it often. What are some sustainable habits I can use to boost my LinkedIn game?
  • How should I be posting content to reach the largest audience?
  • How do likes and comments add value to virtual conversations?
  • What other social media platforms do researchers and academics use?
  • Shannon, what was your entrepreneurship journey like?

Whether you’re an established entrepreneur or early in your startup journey, join us for our next sessions and connect with likeminded peers!
