Campus d'Alfred

Campus d'Alfred is OAC's French-language campus located in eastern Ontario, in the town of Alfred, near Ottawa. This unique campus attracts students from across Canada and around the world, offering diploma and certificate programs taught in the French language. As well as teaching and applied research, Campus d'Alfred focuses on community outreach activities consistent with its expanding role in rural community renewal in Canada and internationally.

Education

Campus d'Alfred offers French-language diploma education in  Agricultural Technology, Environmental Management and Food, Nutrition and Risk Management. In partnership with Collège Boréal, based in Sudbury Ontario, the campus also provides a Veterinary Technology program.

Certificate programs focus on landscape and horticultural studies, veterinary office administration, food service and dairy herd worker.

Research

The research station at Campus d'Alfred features three units providing applied research in:

• Dairy
• Forestry and Maple Syrup
• Research and Technology Transfer

Two additional major research initiatives are:

• A study to evaluate the performance, environmental impact and economics of four manure anaerobic digestion technologies located on farms in Cobden, St. Eugene and Thunder Bay, Ontario
• A Centre for Organic Dairy Research, including a certified organic dairy herd and associated research facilities. The centre will serve as a conduit for information and technology generated by research at institutions in North America and Europe and will operate in both English and French.
