The College of Biological Science offers exceptional teaching and mentorship for its more than 5,000 undergraduate and 400 graduate students.

CBS alumni are in high demand in academia, private and public sectors for their breadth of knowledge and skills, their leadership, workplace sensibilities and business acumen.

CBS faculty and teaching staff are supported and encouraged to identify and implement new teaching methods to best train the next generation of biologists. The CBS Office of Educational Scholarship and Practice (COESP) supports educational scholarship in CBS; fosters learning and engagement among CBS educators; promotes inclusive, innovative and evidence-drive teaching; and connects CBS educators with the higher education community for the exchange of information and ideas.

University of Guelph John Bell Award

The John Bell Award recognizes outstanding contributions to university education at the University of Guelph. The award is made in honour of Professor John Bell who served the university with distinction from 1972 to 1987.
