Leadership Training Resources 

 

WWF Canada Living Planet Leader Designation 

The Living Planet Leader designation is a great way to gain recognition for the experiences  and skills you acquire while completing your degree. If you're actively involved in improving sustainability on campus or in the community, this designation is for you! 

Living Planet Leader is self-guided, so you can complete it on your own time and with your own desired experiences. It is a great way to enhance your resume and stand out in a crowd.

You must complete actions in:

  • • Campus, community or global volunteerism
  • • Personal application of sustainability
  • • Application of sustainability in academics
  • • Leadership and teamwork

LinkedIn Learning

This is a video-based training library that allows you to build specific skills or expand your skill sets (personal and professional) through completing professional instructed training modules. Modules range in topic from website design, photography, audio and music, animination,and more. 

There is no cost for access to LinkedIn learning for University of Guelph students, staff, and faculty.

EcoCanada Online Courses

EcoCanada provides online self-directed training modules that upon completion provide you with a course certificate. The courses offered vary from professional communications, project management, to navigating Canadian environmental law. 

These courses are not free, but there may be grants available to cover professional development opportunities.

Looking for a green career? Want to find an environmental organization to volunteer with? 
We recommend checking out Good Work Canada's listings. 

 

Funding Opportunities 

University of Guelph Awards Search 

This is the University of Guelph's search portal for scholarships, bursaries, and awards. We recommend searching this portal for awards that you might be eligble to apply for. If you've been involved on the community on or off campus, you should look for volunteer and community involvement focused grants.

Rising Youth Grant (External)

Do you have an idea for a project that supports your community? You might be interested in applying to the TakingITGlobal Rising Youth grants. These grants allow you to active your community through providing various levels of funding for your community projects. 

They are currently accepting grant applications on an on-going basis. These grants range from $250, $750 to $1500. 

This award is external from the University of Guelph and we are not able to answer questions related to this grant. Please contact them directly.

This is an online hub for sustanable jobs and volunteer opportunities. This website hosts a job board that allows you to search job postings in various environmental fields across Canada. You can search for internships, entry level positions, volunteer opportunities, to even senior and executive positions.

Looking to volunteer in the community and not sure where to start? Check out this database of volunteer opportunities available in the Guelph-Wellington community. This is a great database to search available volunteer positions. You can search volunteer opportunites based on interest, locations, and commitment level.

This online team management system is a great way to keep connected and organized with any sized team. You can share direct messages, access files together, and even host video calls using this platform.

Want to make professional looking graphics for your organization? Need some inspiration for your next Instagram post? Check out this online graphic design platform that allows you to create professional fun designs for any media you need. This is a commonly used platform at the Sustainability Office. You can share designs with others and even make a branding package for your organization.
