Research Data Centre
The University of Guelph Research Data Centre (RDC), opened in 2011, is part of the Canadian Research Data Centre Network (CRDCN). It provides secure access to detailed Statistics Canada microdata – including survey, census, and administrative data – for approved researchers with security clearance. Access is limited to academic staff and students at Canadian post-secondary institutions.
About RDC
The University of Guelph RDC data include Canada survey files, census data and an increasing number of administrative datasets. Researchers use RDC data to explore a wide range of topics from child development to eldercare, educational outcomes to immigration and health policy to family life.
This centre is located on the main campus of the University of Guelph. Opened in fall 2011, it currently offers four workstations available to researchers.
RDCs are hosted in universities across Canada and staffed by Statistics Canada analysts and statistical assistants. They operate under the confidentiality provisions of the Statistics Act and are accessible only to approved researchers with the required security clearance.
Accessing RDC Data
Access is available to academic staff and students at Canadian post-secondary institutions with an approved research project and Statistics Canada security clearance.
To access CRDCN data, researchers must:
