Dr. Asim Biswas, a professor in the School of Environmental Science in the Ontario Agricultural College, has been awarded the 2023 Steacie Prize, one of Canada’s most prestigious awards for researchers under 40.

Named after E.W.R. Steacie, a former President of the National Research Council of Canada, this prize recognizes significant contributions to Canadian science.

Biswas, an expert in soil science, focuses on increasing agricultural productivity while promoting environmental sustainability.

With his research group, he develops data management tools, soil sensors and soil maps to enhance decision-making regarding soil health and sustainability.

Their work enables producers to minimize inputs like water and fertilizer, boost crop yields and increase overall farm efficiency, all while protecting the environment.
