University of Guelph researchers will receive more than $20.4 million in federal support for studies encompassing a wide variety of topics, ranging from wildfires and quarks to Indigenous self-determination and AI.
As part of a broader funding initiative that totals $960 million, Randy Boissonnault, the Minister of Employment, Workforce Development, and Official Languages, made the announcement today on behalf of François-Philippe Champagne, the Minister of Innovation, Science, and Industry, and Mark Holland, the Minister of Health.
The breakdown of funding for U of G researchers is as follows:
- $16 million from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council
- $1.9 million from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council
- $1.1 million from the Canada Foundation for Innovation through its John R. Evans Leaders Fund
- $1 million from the Canada Research Chairs program
- $420,000 in Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships
