A technician carefully removes the mid-right leg of pinned Diptera (fly) specimens at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History in Washington D.C. to be DNA barcoded. This project focuses on sampling insect specimens identified by museum curators to expand the Centre for Biodiversity Genomics online library of species (The Barcode of Life Database).
