The Arboretum is looking for students to hire for summer work

Interested in working at The Arboretum for the summer? We are seeking students to join our summer grounds crew!

The University of Guelph Arboretum is currently accepting applications for seasonal summer employment on the grounds. The position will be based out of the RJ Hilton centre on College Ave E., Guelph, Ontario.

The position pays $11.25 per hour, for 35 hours per week (8:00am to 4:00pm Monday to Friday), and runs for 16 weeks (with the possibility of 18 weeks), starting April 27th.

The position entails outdoor physical work in a team environment. Day to day tasks may include:

• Landscaping

• Planting

• Machinery operation

• Tree nursery and greenhouse work

• Tree planting

• Pruning

• A variety of other tasks involved in the overall maintenance and operation of The Arboretum

 

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

• A resident of Ontario on first day of employment

• Legally eligible to work in Canada

• 15-24 years of age (up to 29 with disability) on first day of employment

• A student – currently enrolled, returning in Sept 2014, on academic break, or graduated within 6 months of first day of employment.
