Join the Green Team
The "Green Team" is a brand new, student-led volunteer-based initative! Developed through the Sustainability Office, this team is comprised of undergraduate and graduate University of Guelph students and guided by the Green Team Lead Peer Helper. The Green Team's goal is to reduce waste and increase sustainable practices on campus!
The Green Team has three major focuses:
1) Attending designated events to promote sustainability through education on proper waste sorting.
2) Developing and leading the "Sustainable Event Planner Certification Training".
3) Organizing and running monthly outreach days across campus. These outreach days will be used to promote waste reduction education.
How the "Green Team" Works
All Green Team members will receive proper waste management and safety training (provided by the staff at the Sustainability Office). Members will also have the opportunity to attend optional workshops on mental health (eco-anxiety), effective outreach tips/tricks, digital communications, and marketing campaigns. These workshops will be run through various collaborations across the University of Guelph campus. Green Team members are expected to volunteer for at least 2-3 shifts (events or outreach days) per semester.
How to Join
This team is open to all University of Guelph students. We are looking for students that are willing to volunteer for a minimum of 2-3 shifts a semester. If you are interested in joining the Green Team, please email email@example.com to be added to our volunteer email list-serv. The training for these positions will vary based on the focus.
General member meetings take place every Thursday 2:30-3:30pm in the Sustainability Office's student lounge. Everyone is welcome to attend!
