Program Type: Tier 1

Funding Cycle: 2025/2026

Research Centre: Ontario Crops Research Centre – Elora

Research Summary: Farmers can improve stormwater management by using both natural and built solutions. The goal is to collect and treat rainwater effectively while protecting the environment. Experts in soil health, water quality, and stormwater control are exploring new technologies to address farming challenges. Green Infrastructure (GI), such as swales, wetlands, and special gardens, helps clean water, reduce runoff, and store rainwater for future use. Real-time monitoring tracks water levels and quality to improve management. Guidelines will be developed to help farmers integrate GI into their fields. These strategies support agriculture while preserving ecosystems.
