Effects of pasture management strategies on carbon sequestration, soil health, and forage productivity for optimizing cow-calf performance using sustainable production practices

Lead Applicant: Ira Mandell

Research Priority: Sustainable Production Systems

Program Type: Tier 1

Funding Cycle: 2020/2021

Research Centre: Ontario Beef Research Centres - Elora and New Liskeard

Research Summary: This study will investigate how grazing management for pasture can improve yield and nutritional quality for beef cattle; and examine how diverse grazing management strategies affect sustainable beef production by assessing these strategies based on soil health and microbiome, carbon sequestration, pasture production, animal performance, and cost of production.
