Policy options to enhance the sustainability of cropping systems in Ontario

Research Summary: Farmers and policy makers are unsure which practices such as cover crops and/or 4R nutrient management can enhance the sustainability of cropping systems in Ontario and the abatement costs of those strategies. This project will address this problem by identifying a cost-effective set of practices to improve stewardship, as well as evaluate the appropriate mechanisms that could be developed by policy makers to encourage the adoption of the desired BMPs.
