Studio Art Course Updates 

 

Important Information for all Studio Art Majors! 

We have made some important changes to Studio Art course offerings that may impact your academic planning. Please review the updates below carefully.

New Course Offerings  

We are excited to introduce four new courses designed to enhance both creative and professional skill sets. 

Click each course title to view the full description: 

 

  • SART*1090 – Making Comics (Fall) 
    An online course combining asynchronous content with a synchronous “open studio” session (3 hours per week total). 

 

  • SART*2700 – The Digital Image (Fall & Winter) 
    Meets once a week for three hours. Students' complete projects using their laptop, tablet, or smartphone during class time. 

 

 

 

ShapeCourse Offering Updates: 

  • SART*4700 – Will only be offered in the Winter semester (currently listed as Fall and Winter) 

 

ShapeRestriction Updates: 

Please be aware of the following restrictions, which apply to many SART courses: 

All 2000 Level SART Courses 

  • Restricted to Studio Art specializations for those who have completed 10.00 credits or less. 

  • Students may register for up to a maximum of 2 SART courses per semester. 

 All 3000–4000 Level SART Courses 

  • Students are initially limited to 2 SART courses per semester during registration 

  • Students must have a minimum 70% average in all ARTH and SART combined on all course attempts 

 

These restrictions are in place to ensure fair access and support academic progression. 

 

Course Deletions 

The following courses will no longer be offered in future terms: 

  • ARTH*2220 – The Visual Arts Today 

  • SART*1150 - Contemporary Artistic Practice 

  • SART*2710 - Digital Media II: Animation 

  • SART*3480 - Digital Media III: Creating Content for the Web   

  • SART*4250 - Special Topics in Painting and Drawing   

  • SART*4260 - Special Topics in Painting and Drawing 

  • SART*4660 - Topics in Experimental Studio 

  • SART*4670 - Topics in Experimental Studio 

  • SART*4800 - Special Topics in Sculpture 

  • SART*4870 - Special Topics in Sculpture 

  • SART*4890 - Digital Media IV 

If these courses are part of your academic plan, please adjust your course selections accordingly.
