Details

Join us to hear from one of the world's leading experts on the links between our circadian clock and health, Dr. Satchin Panda. Dr. Panda is a professor in the Regulatory Biology Laboratory and holder of the Rita and Richard Atkinson Chair at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies in La Jolla, California. His lab discovered that confining caloric consumption to an 8-to-12-hour period (called time-restricted eating) might stave off high cholesterol, diabetes, obesity, and liver disease. Dr. Panda was among the researchers who discovered the essential function of a blue-light-sensitive protein, melanopsin, in regulating our circadian clock, sleep, and alertness. Dr. Panda is frequently listed as one of the most cited scientists in the world for his cutting-edge work in this burgeoning field. Dr. Panda will discuss his work in this presentation, tailored to a general public audience.

Doors open at 5 pm. The presentation will begin promptly at 5:30 pm. Co-hosted with the Canadian Society for Chronobiology.
