Guelph-Waterloo Centre for Graduate Work in Chemistry and Biochemistry (GWC2)

Provides research opportunities in a myriad of chemical and biochemical research areas including analytical, biological chemistry or biochemistry, inorganic, nanoscience, organic, physical, polymer and theoretical.

The Guelph-Waterloo Centre for Graduate Work in Chemistry and Biochemistry GWC2 is one of Canada’s largest and most successful graduate schools. The Centre is housed in the Chemistry Department at Guelph and the Chemistry Department at Waterloo, two of Canada’s highest-rated Universities.

Ontario Water Consortium - Le Consortium Pour L'Eau De L'Ontario Guelph Wastewater Facility (GWF)

A bench and pilot-scale facility constructed adjacent to the City of Guelph’s municipal Wastewater Treatment Plant, the GWF is owned and operated by the University of Guelph and supported by Ontario Water Consortium.

The GWF has five pilot-scale stations, an ecotoxicology lab, and two basic analytical labs. Users have access to various process streams, including raw wastewater, primary effluent, secondary effluent, tertiary effluent, raw sludge, waste-activated sludge and thickened waste-activated sludge.

The facility also includes two complementary state-of-the-art analytical labs located at the University of Guelph. Analytical equipment include GC/MS, TOC, respirometer, real-time PCR, refrigerated centrifuge, incubator shaker, autoclave, and a digital imaging fluorescence microscope.

Aerial view of Guelph Turfgrass Institute Guelph Turfgrass Institute (GTI)

Conducts research and provides information and education on turfgrass production and management, urban horticulture and environmental research to the Ontario turfgrass and landscape industries as well as the Ontario Public. Professional consulting services are provided through the GTI Solutions Group and turfgrass, insect, disease and weed identification is provided by the GTI Diagnostics Lab.

Guelph Institute of Development Studies (GIDS)

Brings together expertise and resources from across the University of Guelph to explore international development and development in Canada. Through education, research and analysis, passionate students and faculty pursue positive, inclusive change in the world – and social justice for all.

Guelph Institute for Environmental Research (GIER)

Tackles the world’s environmental problems through innovation and interdisciplinary collaboration. GIER will build on the University’s expertise in the environment and sustainability by bringing together researchers from diverse fields.
