Graduate Student Seat on Senate: Ontario Agricultural College - Elect One (1)

Graduate Student Nominee Statements for Ontario Agricultural College Senate Seat
– Elect One (1)

Robert Matson
I am a MSc. candidate in the Department of Animal Bioscience. Although I am a recent graduate from another university, I have already witnessed the diversity that is the Ontario Agricultural College. It is a unique atmosphere in OAC with departments containing plant science, animal science, food science, economics and all the work that bring these together. The research that you do will make agriculture better in the province of Ontario, Canada and even the world. My research in this college focuses on dairy behaviour and welfare, but I have been involved in agriculture my whole life having grown up on a 70-cow dairy herd. I have also worked in a plant science research capacity in the past and would love to talk any time about your interests or research. I want to hear from you about any concerns you have regarding academic or professional requirements. I want to represent all departments within the Ontario Agricultural College and represent you. It is with great enthusiasm that I would ask for your support to become the next graduate OAC senate representative.

Dillon Muldoon
My name is Dillon Muldoon and I’m going into the second year of my MSc. in Environmental Science within the Ontario Agricultural College (OAC). For my thesis I am studying ‘The impact of enhanced uncultivated habitats on pollinators and natural enemies in the Holland Marsh, Ontario’. Since coming to Guelph in 2017 I have been amazed by the sense of community and opportunities offered to students not only through the departments and colleges, but by the University as a whole.

Throughout my first year with the OAC I was able meet several fellow graduate students from various departments as a member of the OAC Graduate Student Council (GSC). I was also able to connect with the larger OAC community through a number of outreach and volunteer opportunities.    Within the OAC I currently sit as the Treasurer on the OAC GSC, as well as the OAC GSC Colloquium Head for 2019.

As a dedicated, responsible, and hardworking individual I’m looking forward to the opportunity of representing the graduate students of the OAC at the Senate of the University of Guelph. As we work together to as a community to ‘Improve Life’.
