Board Meeting Synopsis for October 19, 2022

The first regular meeting of the Board of Governors for the 2022-23 year was held October 19, 2022, at the University fo Guelph Arboretum. The meeting was chaired by Board Chair Nancy Brown Andison.

The meeting began with a welcome to Governors offered by the Board Chair, and a welcome to guests in attendance and to those watching online.

President Charlotte Yates offered oral remarks, including an update on fall activities on campus. A presentation on the University’s Global Engagement Plan was provided by the Assistant Vice-President, International.

Senate Meeting Synopsis for June 6, 2022

The seventh Senate meeting of the 2021-22 session was held on June 6, 2022 and was chaired by President Charlotte Yates.

Dr. Michèle Preyde, Professor and Chair, Committee on Quality Assurance, commenced the meeting with a territorial land acknowledgment.

The President, Dr. Charlotte Yates, offered oral remarks and began by congratulating students for completing their year of study and thanking faculty and staff who supported student achievement.

Call for Nominations - University Awards 2023

The Senate Honours and Awards Committee invites nominations for the following University awards and honours to be awarded at convocation ceremonies beginning in 2023. Secondly only to honorary degrees, the awards listed belwo are of the highest order the University may bestow, presented publicly to recognize recipients at convocation ceremonies throughout the year.

Senate Meeting Synopsis for April 7, 2022

The fifth and sixth Senate meetings of the 2021-22 session were held on April 7, 2022 and were chaired by President Charlotte Yates.

Dr. Rene Van Acker, Dean, Ontario Agricultural College, commenced the meetings with a territorial land acknowledgment.

Election of the 10th Chancellor of the University

Following the closed session meeting, Senate elected Dr. Mary Anne Chambers as the University’s 10th Chancellor.  A formal installation will follow in one of the June 2022 convocation ceremonies.

Gen Gauthier-Chalifour, University Secretary, commenced the meeting with a territorial land acknowledgment.

Board Meeting Synopsis for June 22, 2022

The fourth and final regular meeting of the Board of Governors for the 2021-22 year was held June 22, 2022, in-person in the University Centre and was chaired by Board Chair Shauneen Bruder. 

The meeting began with a welcome to Governors offered by the Board Chair, a special welcome was offered to incoming Governors whose terms begin in fall 2022, attending the June meeting as guests in advance of their terms.

The fourth Senate meeting of the 2021-22 session was held on February 7, 2022 and was chaired by President Charlotte Yates.

Justin Mihaly, Student Senate Caucus Co-chair, commenced the meeting with a territorial land acknowledgment.

Leadership Updates

The President, Dr. Charlotte Yates, offered oral remarks and began by reminding Senators that February is Black History Month and encouraging participation in the activities planned by the Cultural Diversity Office and Guelph Black Students’ Association.

The third Senate meeting of the 2021-22 session was held on November 22, 2021 and was chaired by President Charlotte Yates.

Dr. Vivian Shalla, Professor and Chair, Committee on Non-degree Studies, commenced the meeting with a territorial land acknowledgment.

The President, Dr. Charlotte Yates, offered oral remarks and began by expressing thanks to Dr. Gerarda Darlington, for her service as the Interim Dean of the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences, which concludes December 1.
