HHNS 52nd Symposium

The 52nd annual HHNS Symposium will be taking place on January 25th 2025 in the Summerlee Science Complex (SSC) Waasamowin Atrium from 9:30am-12:30pm! This year's theme is: The Power Within, highlighting the importance of nutrition, self-care, and sustainable practices for lifelong wellness.  A full buffet brunch is included with the cost of the event! Regular Price Ticket Sale ($12.00 per person): January 9th 2025 - January 24th 2025

College of Biological Science Community Seminar Speaker Series

Creating Ethical Space for First Nations-led Genetic, Epigenetic, and Other Biological Health Research The Department of Human Health and Nutritional Sciences is pleased to host Dr. Billie-Jo Hardy from the University of Toronto and Dr. Amy Bombay from Carleton University. They will be speaking about their experiences developing a biological health research training program with First Nations health professionals and researchers.  Both researchers will present virtually, but there will be an in-person viewing option, with refreshments available.

Entry points for Solutions at Scale for Prosperous and Resilient Urban and Rural Circular Economies The Healthy Cities conference aims to bring together researchers, trainees, practitioners, and knowledge users with an interest in building healthy cities to foster collaboration and knowledge exchange. By facilitating discussions on current issues, research findings, and potential solutions, the conference aims to identify emerging priorities for healthy cities and opportunities for further research and training.

SMART Training Platform Webinar, Trainee Series

This webinar will feature presentations from three of our trainees, each followed by a discussion period, making the webinar one hour in total duration, with each segment lasting approximately 20 minutes. This series is more than just a platform for sharing research; it’s an avenue for fostering feedback, encouraging future initiatives, and extending the reach of our trainees’ ground-breaking work to a broader audience, thereby amplifying it’s impact on society.

51st annual HHNS Symposium

After a very long hiatus, the Human Kinetics Student Association (HKSA) at the University of Guelph is so excited to bring back the 51st annual HHNS Symposium on January 27th 2024 in the Summerlee Science Complex (SSC) Atrium from 9:30am-12:30pm! This year's theme is: Breaking Down the Elixir of Life, all about how to live a long and healthy life. Topics will include the effects of cannabis use on the cardiovascular system, nutrition and mental health, and the importance of physical activity and sleep.
