Are you interested in pursuing a career that will allow you to make an impact on sustainability? Attend this virtual career panel to learn from U of G alumni who work in a variety of interesting careers creating sustainable futures. Come prepared to ask questions.

Panelist include:

Aidan Brushett, Resource Management Officer for Parks Canada

I graduated from the U of G with a BSc in Wildlife Biology and Conservation in 2022. Since then, I've been a Resource Management Officer for Parks Canada in Banff, Mount Revelstoke, and Glacier National Parks, where I support a wide variety of wildlife management and conservation research. Currently, I am part of a three-person team collaborating with indigenous and academic partners to create a reintroduction plan for the recently-extirpated Columbia South woodland caribou herd. I'm very motivated by research that has real-world implications in shared human-wildlife landscapes.
When I'm not working you can find me backcountry skiing, ice climbing, and mountain biking.

Heather Slinn, Senior Plant Scientist for Vive Crop Protection

Heather is currently a senior plant scientist for Vive Crop Protection - a small Canadian agro-chemical company, based in Mississauga, that uses innovative nanotechnology to better formulate pesticides. Heather is a former university of Guelph graduate and researcher. She received her PhD in Integrative Biology in 2021 (advised by Drs. Jonathan Newman and Lee Dyer) where she studied the chemical and microbial ecology of the tropical plant genus, Piper. Following her PhD, Heather became an industry postdoc in the School of Environmental Science (advised by Dr. Kari Dunfield) where she worked with Syngenta Canada on disease suppressive soils of wheat and fusarium. When she's not doing science, you can find Heather running 500 Women Scientists Guelph, doing crossfit or spending time with her friends.
