Introducing U of G’s United Way Campaign Co-Chairs for 2025
Two inspiring community leaders are stepping up to lead this year’s United Way Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph campaign at the University of Guelph: Erin Mancini and Dr. John Walsh.
The University of Guelph is committed to improving lives alongside community partners like The United Way. The United Way Guelph Wellington Dufferin believes better is possible. Their purpose is creating lasting positive change. The United Way is uniquely able to focus and unite people and resources to improve lives and build community, by creating support, connection, and opportunity. We believe our community and the people in it matter and know that we can help each other live better lives.
Better is possible and there’s no better time than now.
Last year, we focused on “re-igniting campaign spirit” across the University; this year, we are determined to keep that momentum going – to “keep the campaign spirit burning bright”. This will involve increased participation and engagement.
Small acts of kindness, even giving just a few dollars, can change a life for the better. And, when their life is changed, they can, in turn, change someone else’s. Don’t believe that your contribution won’t matter or is too small. Pooled together, each contribution and action will make a difference and fuel community change. When we are generous with what we have to give, it makes today feel better and will make tomorrow even brighter.

The University of Guelph has officially launched its 2025 United Way Campaign, celebrating over 40 years of partnership and more than $13.5 million raised for our community.
This year’s campaign is led by Erin Mancini, special constable with the Campus Safety Office, and Dr. John Walsh, associate professor and director of the School of Languages and Literatures. Together, they aim to keep the momentum going after last year’s successful campaign.
The 2025 United Way Campaign launched with a bang on September 25, marking yet another year in the University of Guelph’s 40+ year partnership with United Way Guelph Wellington Dufferin!
Campus spirit was in full swing, and the toonie hot dogs, popcorn, and legendary Creelman apple crisp were selling like hotcakes. Students, staff, and faculty came together once again to celebrate community, generosity, and the power of local impact.
Thousands of beans grown for University of Guelph research projects that might have gone to waste will instead provide nutritious meals to the community through donations to the local food bank.
Our United Way Trick or Trivia event at the University of Guelph was a huge success, with over 250 faculty and staff coming together. We had so much fun seeing your departments dress up and enjoy our annual Halloween Trivia. Thank you to everyone who participated and made it such a memorable day! To see more about the event head over to the University of Guelph Intranet to read more and see pictures of the amazing costumes.
On September 25th, we held our 2024 University of Guelph United Way Campaign Kickoff at Branion Plaza. Gryph made a special appearance alongside the United Way’s very own Everyday Superhero. The event was a huge success as many staff, students, and community members all came together to learn more about how they could engage with and contribute to the United Way during this year’s campaign.
What better way to start the University of Guelph’s United Way Campaign than with the Gryphons’ Home Opener Game! This past weekend, we were able to share and celebrate some #LocalLove by cheering on the football Gryphons while supporting United Way. $1 from every ticket sold to the game went toward United Way, as did proceeds from the 50/50 draw and general donations on-site. Huge shoutout to our Gryphons who won with a final score of 38-25 as well!
