U of G’s DNA Barcoding Systems Awarded Funding for Major Infrastructure
The U of G Centre for Biodiversity Genomics (CBG), which many of our Bioinformatics faculty are affiliated with, has received $376,000 to revamp data platforms that support DNA barcoding work around the world.
MBINF alumnus leads COVID-19 app development
MBINF alumnus, Hassaan Maan (MBINF 2019), is the lead author about a SARS-CoV-2 genotyping app. The work was a collaboration between Peter Munk Cardiac Centre, Sunnybrook Health Sciences, and McMaster University.

Bioinformatics faculty among those awarded by UofG for COVID-19 research
Bioinformatics faculty members, Dr. Leonardo Susta and Dr. Wei Zhang, were among those awarded for projects designed to support the battle against the COVID-19 pandemic and mitigate its impacts.
BINF faculty among those helping the COVID-19 fight
Dr. Wei Zhang, a UofG Bioinformatics faculty member who is an assistant professor in the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology, is part of a team that will use protein engineering technology to find new treatments for COVID-19.
