Looking to connect with peers? Seeking more social opportunities and networking events? If you want to network and find new opportunities on campus, we suggest you sign up for the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences Pods & Mentorship Program and Competition! This is an opportunity for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows to participate in group activities, receive peer support and compete for an amazing UofG starter pack prize!
Graduate students and postdoctoral fellows will be placed in small groups of three to six people, referred to as "Pods." One student, suggested to be more advanced in their degree or a postdoctoral fellow, will have the opportunity be take on the “Pod mentor” role if desired.
How does the Competition Work?
From April 1st, 2024, to August 15, 2024, Pods will participate in self-directed group social events and mentorship activities. It is up to your Pod to decide together, there is no limit to what you and your Pod could decide to do!
You could:
- Hike at the arboretum in the spring to chat and explore biodiversity.
- Crafts at the Bullring to connect over coffee.
- Visit Guelph Lake for some swimming and conversation about career opportunities.
- Go to the movies to unwind.
Participating Pods are required to submit a monthly photo or short video capturing their group activities. At the end of the competition, each pod is required to additionally submit a 1-page summary detailing their activities by the August 32,2024. All submissions are to be made toceps.research@uoguelph.ca.
Interested in Joining?
Worried that you do not have a group of people to register with? No need to worry! The CEPS Dean's office will organize the Pods based on responses to the registration form allowing students to meet new people with similar interests. If you would like to request to be in a pod with a specific Pod applicant, or you would like to request to be a mentor, please include that request in your form. Note that requests will be considered, but not guaranteed. All information provided is confidential and securely managed by the CEPS Dean's office, ensuring privacy and data integrity.
